The Pemaquid Chapter NSDAR was organized on November 26, 1932, with 20 charter members. Pemaquid Chapter NSDAR was named for an ancient historical Indian name. As early as 1625, the English established at Pemaquid Point a year-round trading post for fur trading. In 1631, the area was granted as the Pemaquid Patent by the Plymouth Council to Robert Aldsworth and Gyles Elbridge.

Over the ensuing years, Pemaquid chapter members have been active in Daughters of the American Revolution serving the Maine State Organization as state chairmen, state officers, and state regent, as well as chairmen and members of national committees. Historic markers have been placed at Waldoboro Church; Alna Meeting House; Walpole Meeting House; Wiscasset Church; Fort William Henry; Harrington Meeting House.
