For three years, the chapter discussed and read letters from the state regent and state chairman of historic spots, about placing a historical marker at Cape Porpoise.<\/p>\n<p>This was finally accomplished and the marker reads:<\/p>\n<div style=\"text-align: center;\"><div class=\"row \"><div class=\"col-lg-12 col-md-12 col-xs-12 col-sm-12\">\n&#8220;AUGUST 8, 1782, A BRITISH SHIP OF<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: center;\">18 GUNS ATTACKED A SMALL FORCE OF<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: center;\">INHABITANTS GATHERED ON GOAT ISLAND<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: center;\">AND WAS DRIVEN AWAY BY SEVERE<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: center;\">MUSKET FIRE, LOSING 17 MEN.<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: center;\">LIEUT.
