The Koussinoc Chapter of the
National Society Daughters of
the American Revolution met on Monday, August 9, 2010 at Old Fort
Western in Augusta.
After the
business meeting, the ladies were served a Colonial Tea and given a
talk about
the Howard family who resided at the Fort in the late 1700’s. Docent
Joyce
Anderson, dressed in colonial costume, demonstrated to the members the
way that
butter was churned; how sugar was packed and much about the general
kitchen
duties of the women of that time. Many of the ladies actively
participated in
these kitchen chores of by-gone days.
If
you think that you may have an ancestor who participated
in the American Revolution, and you would like to join our chapter, we
would be
very happy to speak with you. Please contact the Chapter
Regent, Mrs.
Thomas, at 622-6866.
Our mission statement is to
promote historic preservation
and patriotism by encouraging education.
